Your travel data is stored securely and is only accessible to you and those you choose to share it with. Trip members see what the trip shares (itinerary, group expenses, bookings without confirmation numbers); private booking identifiers (PNRs, seat assignments) are visible only in the app to their owners.
The WhatsApp assistant
When a WhatsApp group is linked to a trip, the TripVault assistant stores the group's messages as trip memory so it can answer questions, track shared expenses, and keep context across conversations. The assistant announces this in the group when it joins.
- What's stored: message text, sender name and number, and whether the assistant was addressed. Photos and videos are not stored; a tagged receipt or ticket is parsed and only the extracted booking/expense is kept.
- Retention: group messages are deleted automatically after 90 days. The trip data itself (ledger, itinerary, bookings) is kept until the trip owner deletes it.
- Opting out: remove the assistant from the group at any time — it only sees groups it's a member of. The trip owner can also unlink the group from the app.
- Processing: messages addressed to the assistant are processed by an AI model to produce a reply. Ledger changes (amounts, splits, settlements) are computed and validated by TripVault's own code, and every change is recorded in an audit trail visible to the group.
